I will probably stay for a couple of nights in Antigua and then travel onwards to Xela. I was planning on going straight to Antigua at the airport and believe there are shuttles that can take me there? Would that be a safer option than getting a cab if I am on my own, and do they leave regularly?

The plane I am looking at booking gets in at 11am. My main concern is getting from Guatemala City airport - not the safest of places - to Quetzaltenango on my own with my bags. I am very confident with finding my feet in a new place and am planning to do Spanish lessons and a homestay in Quetzaltenango. I am planning a solo trip to Guatemala this summer.
